The only real solution for your problem based on all the available advice I was given for the same issue was as follows. Give up on Windows 8 and go back to Windows 7 or Even XP, Vista is acceptable but did have a few issues itself. I myself went back to Win 7 and have had no problems since. Sorry I cant help you any more than that, but someone else may have another answer for you.

FSX works just fine on Windows 8 , that's only if Windows 8 is set up properly for the installation of FSX. If you installed FSX 1st, then try to adjust your Windows 8 to get FSX to adhere to any sorts, that won't work. FSX needs to be uninstalled, and the way Windows 8 recommends programs to be uninstalled particularly FSX.

You need to do as so many few have done with Windows 8, and that is search the web for answers. A very good start is type in your search "FSX and Windows 8" then read all you can for a couple of days tracking down every lead. Book Mark these sites as you will need them for referencing. Create a new folder for your Book Marks called Win8 FSX in the Save As Favorite.

Disable this, and enable that, and thats the routine. You end up with a Unsecure boot going in through your DOS, and enabling .NET Frameworks 3.5.1 in your control panel, and enabling a CMS or the CMD commands while in DOS as well. There is a fountain of information out there on this. I know, I did this for a friend we researched 2 days and finally came to a conclusion using the deductive reasoning process, with inductive thinking on all we read on this FSX and Windows 8. Microsoft was a big help in this as well, many good answers were found there.

My friend has been running FSX for the VA now for 3 to 4 months and no problems at all using Windows 8. After a week on his own when he first got Windows 8, then trying to get FSX to perform to some sort of standard (which it did not), he was ready to throw his PC and Windows 8 out the window. When it comes to installing a video card in a PC with Windows 8, the same guide lines apply, research 1st then do. It's not a plug play world when a person take a piece of software recommended for XP and installs on a different Operating System, but it can be done. Don't assume anything, asumption is the mother of all, well you know the rest. The 3 R's Reseach, Read, Rest, then use your applied knowledge.

If you believe this to be too much, then go back to Operating System that ran FSX in a presentable atmosphere that you were comfortable with. As all posts made by myself, these are just opinions that are truly mine alone. I myself use XP still as a Operating System, not Home, or Professional version(s), I have built mine to Windows XP Ultimate :)

Instead of a "Go back to Windows 7" or "Google it yourself!" reply, maybe this could help ... have you tried the UIAUTOMATIONCORE.DLL fix?

Good reference here, at Kosta's blog:

http://kostasfsworld.wordpress.com/fsx- ... are-guide/

Many flight simmers report running FSX Gold on Windows 8 with no problems, so ignore the noise and do some systematic troubleshooting. If you made it through the installation, you've done well, just need to find the right fix. I've also seen reports of AMD/ATI video drivers level 12.X causing problems in Windows 8, if you're running that brand of video card. Good luck!

That is what I did I installed windows 8 64 bit than I installed FSX gold on a seperate hard drive.
If you use the default location to install FSX you will more than likely have issues.
But I think what was said here good advice
I have not had any problems so far 8-)

When I upgraded my PC to a stand alone all-in one, I was prepared for all sorts of things, but the decision to use the AIO was irreversible. I couldn't install FSX pro, so I bought FSX gold. That was a disaster, because my attempts at installing the FSX corrupted Windows installer, and it wouldn't uninstall properly, so FSX Gold wouldn't install either. I had no problem using my old FS9, so I happily used it until my PC crashed and nothing short of a call to HP and a complete HD reformat would fix it. Anyway, boom went my FS9. So now I could install FSX gold and have been using it ever since very well except for a few minor glitches. What I did find out though, was that uninstalls should not be done through the "Jewel" settings menu and uninstall programs. Instead they should be uninstalled by right clicking on the tile in the start menu and following the instructions at the bottom. That was a complete uninstall is done quickly, bypassing the windows installer, which is only there for compatibility mode.

O another thing using Windows 8 is that when replying to any threads in these forums, occasionally great chunks of text are missed out when without noticing, the forum crashes and restarts.

Sounds as if something is not right with your windows installation. You might want to consider using the repair options for Windows 8 providing you have the disk. If you purchased this machine with Windows 8 all ready on it. Not sure what you can do here. Your options are limited with out the Windows 8 installation disk.
Of course by no means am I a expert Windows 8 person so I could be out in left field <<r
