Hello, I found this patch a while back and I'm wondering if it's worth it. Will I see a FPS increase? http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php

I'm experimenting with a 4gb sh3 gwx3 .exe patch, because the stock sh3.exe only support 2gb. With only 2gb the sub sim close down, on a win ram error, lots of times!
Pretty annoying when made a perfect tour with a lot of ships down.

I dont think any memory patch will increase FPS in fsx, and i'm sure fsx.exe supports every ram/memory the sim can get.

As far as I know, FSX.exe does not need this patch, at least in the SP2/Acceleration version.

FSX Memory... ....

I can remember, long ago, I tried FSX in place of my FS 2004... :? ....

Fortunately, my memory is now failing me, and I've gone back to FS 2004... :D ...!

FSX by the virtue of the fact that it is a 32 bit programme can only ever address 4 Gig of ram wheter you have a 64 bit windows with 10 000 gig of ram or not, FSX can only use 4gig. If you have a 32 bit windows it is restricted to about 3.2 Gig of ram as teh 32 bit windows needs some adress space for peripherals like video cards etc, which is why it isnt a good idea to run a video card with more than 500 Meg of ram as at some stage the virtual adress space windows need can clash with the real memory space the programmes are using and you have problems.

Thanks for the replies. I won't mess with this patch for now. I'm just desperate to get my fps with fraps and sweetfx running to 30 fps.

In my opinion and experience the only REAL WAY to get better frame rates, after the usual scenery tweaks is to get a computer powerful enough for the job.
I updated to the most powerful one I could afford this came already optimized and overclocking tuned. and I now get average frame rates of 55 fps. but I still get the
occasional stuttering. (haven not found a tweak to overcome this ) So I am still saving for an even more powerful one.

This statement is not completely true but for the most part it is correct.
If you have a 64 bit capable cpu along with the 64 bit operating system it can access more at least that is what I read
at the following web site http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... _windows_8

I would try with a better Video Card, not less than 6 gb...................
The first option is to overviev your settings and try different positions.
