fsx SHOWS FATAL eRROR

FSX was working fine yesterday.

I installed two Airbus A318 aircraft and a AS350 helicopter.

Now on starting FSX I get a "Fatal Error" report, and FSX does not load.

This is the event log:

+ System

- Provider

[ Name] Application Error

- EventID 1000
- EventData

fsx.exe
10.0.61637.0
46fadb14
ui.dll

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ui.dll
414d474a-a5e6-11e2-9232-406186751c5e

Any hope of fixing this without a reinstall?

I placed a newer version of ui.dll in the Main fsx folder, but this only led to a notice telling me to reinstall.

All help would be much valued

Try rolling back FSX to yesterday (http://voices.yahoo.com/system-restore- ... 13636.html). Then try. If that doesn't work, try a 'repair installation'

Welcome on SimV Keith ;)

Try to remove your latest installed ac's and the .dll. (Hope you got a backup on the .dll)

I suggest you do as I did and use Google and look up UI.dll from what I have read this is a process that can be used by many different programs altering it in any way could cause issues else where.

This happens to me regularly.

90% + of the time a simple restart fixes it .. sometimes it crashes again but rarely. It is usually better to assume the simple before taking any drastic actions!!!

It largely depends also on what airport and aircraft you start at (at least in my case) ...

So it may be a good idea to get it running - don't do anything drastic - and change your start point and aircraft that FSX loads with.

Sounds like you have an aircraft (Or aircraft) with either a bad texture, gauges or model. I suggest you pull all three of the files you loaded new out of your airplane Folder and lay them on your desktop. Reboot, fire up FSX, and see if you still get the fatal error. I am assuming that the gauges are still with the AC files and not in the gauges folder. If no error then replace one aircraft at a time and fire up fsx until you get the fatal error again. Discard the one causing the fatal error. If you, or the installer, placed the gauges in the gauges folder you will have to find them and remove them. Hope this helps!

I guess you can try to remove the 2 aircrafts, and try running Flight Simulator X again.
If it is working then:
- It is your 2 airplanes you have installed, make sure you've put it in the right folder and that the texture is compatible.
If it's not working then:
- Your Fsx might is missing some files, a re-install is recommended but if you really don't want to re-install Fsx, you have to make sure that everything is correct.
- Try to run it in compatibility mode/Administrator.
