Orbx and Addon Scenery?

Greetings,

I recently added Orbx PNW to my FSX experience, and it is for the most part magnificent. However, their rendition of WINAS is nowhere near as detailed and accurate as Chuck's layout in his WINAS 1.5 package, and I want to restore it.

I use Addit! Pro for adding and maintaining scenery (and aircraft integrity, but that is another story), and everything gets dumped into Addon Scenery. This is pretty low down in the stack, #42, and I think all of Chuck's work is for naught because it is being overwritten.

What would happen if I elevated (significantly) the Addon Scenery folder? I don't do photo-real, so it would seem the objects that Chuck and others would be okay to be placed within the Orbx eco-system.

Or is this a bad assumption?

Thanks for any insight!

JKH

Hey, Howellerman.

Just manually move WINAS above the OrbX sceneries in your scenery cache.
If you don't like the PR ground textures.....remove the Whidbey ground texture files from the Scenery folder in the WINAS package. Then you will have my objects with OrbX ground textures 8)

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for the quick reply!

While I understand your response, I have been using Addit! Pro to inject addon scenery libraries, and while the additions go into /Addon Scenery, the do not show as folders per se.

I could move the entire /Addon Scenery folder up the stack, but am a bit leery, hence my original question.

I think I will try it and see what happens. Like I said, I don't use photo-real stuff the the worst that could happen is that object placement is a bit out of whack.

Thanks again!

JKH

I myself would try installing the WINAS Scenery by CHUCK79 without using your Addit Pro software. Do it the old fashioned way as per instructions in the Read Me file that I'm sure came with the file. This is always the best bet to follow the designers instructions.

Using a 3rd party software program outside of the conventional install method for FSX or the Designer instructions is something I wouldn't consider myself to be doing to ensure a clean install. Good luck hope you get it working.
