Hi there,
Just wondering is it possible to convert FS2002 aircraft to FSX.
Am i right in thinking i could first convert the FS2002 aircraft to
FS2004 aircraft then to FSX using a program like "addon converter x" ?. Is there any software thats free
other than the payware "addon converter x" on the net to enable me to do this ? I downloaded the free
program called MDFS or MDLC of this website, and sadly both versions i downloaded are not 64bit Windows 7 compatible.
Any info and help would be appreciated.
Best Regards
Eddie

It depends what aircraft it is. Some FS2002 aircraft were designed in Gmax and can be adapted well.
The word would be 'adaption' rather than 'conversion' ..... & it has to be said that most of them will be fairly crude by todays standards.
There are so many variables that any 'converter' you mention is probably not the answer (in fact I am sure it simply couldn't work)
If it wasn't given a VC to start with then you are stuck with that -- but very few FS2002 VC's would be good by today's standards. There were one or 2 however that were outstanding in their day and are now available in FSX versions with slight updates. (Yannick Lavigne's Falcon 50 is one example - and there are others)
The best way to answer this is to let us know what aircraft you would like to update.

I don't have that so I can't help you beyond the basics. I am almost certain that any 'converter' can not work (because there are so many variables)
The basics are getting the panel to work. Sounds are pretty compatible or they can be aliased.
Beyond that this is really a specific question about a specific aircraft (or set) and as it's Flight 1 payware it may be best to ask in the Flight1 forum.

I couldnt get the BBMF aircraft to work with Flight Sim X. I used
"Addon Converter X" but sadly it made no difference, I am rather
dissapointed as the BBMF aircraft were really nice in FS2002 and would
look great in FSX. There must be a way i can get them to work surely, I asked
at the Flight1 forum but they said more or less the same.

Unfortunately there is no way to convert FS2002 aircraft to FSX without the source code. (The file from the program it was made in.)
Some FS2002 aircraft work in FSX, some don't.
I’m afraid that you’re out of luck.

Hi Eddie,
I do convert a lot of CFS2 planes to FSX, so maybe an FS2002-plane is also possible. If you go to the SimViation search option, put in my name (erik hertzberger) and download one of my conversions you'll find my email-adress in the readme1st. Send me one of the planes you would like for FSX (you can do that via yousendit.com) and I'll see what I can do for you.
Happy flying,
hertzie.
