Clean uninstall

Hey guys!
So I think i screwed up. My FSX installation was getting saturated with free/payware and other stuff, so I decided to delete everything. I mean DELETE... because I was lazy, payware were sharing the same uninstall.exe files, etc, I just got pissed off, deleted my main FSX folder and figured I'd run a registy clean after afterwards.
Well anyway, fast forward a couple of weeks later and I want to reinstall FSX. I pop the DVD in and launch the setup... This time however I only have two options, REPAIR my fsx installation and REMOVE my fsx installation. I've tried both options, both failed with error messages. I tried another registry cleaner/defrag, but it didn't help.
I'm sure I'm not the only idiot who's done this before, so does anyone have any advice for me? Please, I'm dying to fly again!

I know its a little late for you, pfevrier, but i allways use my disk's to uninstall!

Many addons change the uninstall.exe inside FSX, and the worst thing you can do, is deleting folders.

Are you able to make a "run back"?

The next thing i would try is to
delete all FSX hidden data folders, then use CCleaner in a registry clean.
I know that clean tool can be a very hard one on the reg, and may give some small probs to other things, but thats me.

Then try to install FSX again.

Open explorer/organize/maps and search/show/ check show hidden files folders and drives. (you may have to restart explorer)

Then goto C:/users/"your pc name"/app data/roaming/microsoft/FSX...
The next C:/program data/microsoft/FSX..

(Check if fsx has made a new folder when you tried to reinstall before, just delete it)

So I removed those hidden folders you talked about. I ran a registry cleaner. I launched the FSX setup from CD #1, once again I only had the Repair or Remove option. I clicked the Remove option and this is the error message I got:

"Error number: 0x80040702
Description: Failed to load DLL: GameuxInstallHelper
Setup will now terminate"

So I chose the Repair option. This is the error message I get

" Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. "

Any clues? This FSX is frustrating me... I'm about to switch to X-Plane

Bass and Chuck, thank you very much both for your help. I tried every possible solution I could find, none of them worked. Since I still run Windows Vista I decided to take a drastic decision and purchase Windows 8. Installing a new version of Windows worked and I am currently installing FSX... I guess that's one way to go about solving your problems... I am now looking forward to having to reinstall EVERYTHING... Thanks again guys!
