A321 autopilot

Hi everybody,

Been flying the a321 around after seeing a video on youtube and don't understand whats going on with the autopilot, it's randomly
coming on, sometimes heading to the ground rapidly and on take off not noticing its come on, it's holding me on the runway, other times it throttle back to idle with altitude hold on.

I've had the toga throttle kick in when I'm on approach: now does anybody know if the toga throttle comes on if you not lined up
by the time your at minimal decision height as thats the only thing in this particular case that I can imagine.

The first time I tried flying the approach on autopilot it behaved exactly like the full size sim but now it's mis-behaving.

737 is ok, just the airbus 321 I'm having a sudden problem with.

cheers

Steve

I get exactly the same thing, and it is infuriating. Sometimes worse than others. Not found a solution yet, but you aren't alone!

Hi,

Great that I'm not the only but $^&%&% that there is a problem. I'll try a good line up with runway and see if the toga throttle kicks in, it's the only time as part of missed approach procedure that I'd expect soemthing like that to happen.

Have you done the vomit comet challenge? Good flight that one.

regards

Steve

What on earth is the vomit comet? I haven't flown the 321 for some time, getting frustrated with that issue, but I appeared at one time to solve it by being very much at the right height on approach and very throttled back. If the thing senses you are too fast or throttling back too quickly, it takes over, I think, and forces a go around. I did write to a Forum some time ago asking about this and never did get a satisfactory reply, so I assumed it was just me. Weird. Anyone else out there with a solution, 'cos it's a super plane to fly ? Regards Timothy.

Hi Timothy,

I'm going to have to assume it's because I wasn't lined up by min height.

What I'll have to check and try and figure out is why the autopilot is coming on randomly whilst I'm still on the ground.
