How to get your Posky 777 VC gauges working

FSX including FSX Steam version.

This is by far the most confusing add-on there probably is... When I get home from work I will download that file and install it.  Are FSX fliers expected to know which files are needed?  I'm just wondering how many of us are supposed to know all the files needed..

well seeing as how hundreds of thousands of other people have managed to install it with out any problems, i highly doubt that its a confusing add-on.

It seems you just confusing yourself more than anything. But also keep in mind... to use this in FSX does take some tinkering with, as it was not designed with FSX in mind. I posted some instructions on how to install the vc files, and such. Read that over again, and start from scratch. You are missing some files from what I gather. And again, following the instructions I posted on how to get the vc in there will tell you what you need, and where to put it all. First things first... get the vc to show.. then follow the instructions on the 1st page to get the gauges working.

Okay, here's what I did.  I downloaded the following files:
Model Package: OS772V2_PW4000_VC
Panel Files: Virtual Cockpit 32-Bit bmp Textures and Virtual Cockpit Panel SP2A
North America: United Airlines NOC

I first put the OS772V2 contents in a folder "B777-200," then I copied the VC 32-bit bmp textures and VC Cockpit Panel SP2A.  After that I copied the UA NOC files in.  Each time I replaced the files/folder that were already there.  After that I followed the readme instructions of the UA NOC and copied the 777-effects and the contents of the FSX folder to where they belonged.

Still I have no VC and the gauges in the 2D do not work.  Did I not copy the files in the right order?  Because I wasn't sure if the aircraft folder name mattered I renamed it to the folder name that came with UA NOC.

I really appreciate your guys help.  I know this thread is long, and as someone who's pretty tech savvy this is pretty frustrating for me - and a bit embarrassing..

I'm starting over. I got the gauges working, I got the VC working, and I copied the panel.cfg file that was in the first post, and the only working gauge in the VC I had was the artificial horizon.

You dont have to use my panel.cfg if you dont want to. I just put that to show what I use. The only real change you'd need to make was to one of the final entrys that has to do with the glass dirt.

It should look like this

//gauge00=Pky_glassdirt!Pky_glassdirt,  0,0,1024,1024

I may have found my problem: my panel.cfg file does not have a "gauge00=Pky_glassdirt!Pky_glassdirt,  0,0,1024,1024" line at all, nor does it have a [VCockpit04] entry.

hmmm, that is kinda strange. maybe it got cutoff somehow. well just copy the missing parts from my panel.cfg and see what you've got.

I have SUCCESS!!!  I found instructions at Flight Simulator Guide that I followed.  The guide wasn't perfect but I got the plane and VC working.  Here's a link to the guide (I'm not on their forums so I don't want to copy & paste what's on their site).

http://www.flightsimulatorguide.com/rev ... p?file=201

My only difference was the "model.vc" folder the instructions had me created, I changed back to just "model."

Now the only problem I have is with the gauges.  They all show up and respond to aircraft movement, but they flicker as if they are conflicting with the texture behind.  In order to fix that I just copied gtirob01's panel.cfg listed in the first post and that was fixed.

The biggest problem I had was the way I interpreted the readme.  I thought the FSX folder that came with the livery was meant to be placed in the FSX Root folder.

Thanks for everyone's patience.

I have everything working except the gauges in the VC. The Boeing 777-300.gau file is installed, and the gauges work fine in the 2D cockpit, but they won't show up in the VC.

I pasted your cfg file and I got the gauges in the vc except the 737800mfd. That gauge does not show up, I get a blnk there.  I have th default 737 in my files.  Is there something else that I should do besides editig thepanel cfg?

Thanks,

Finally! I found that the Korean Air 777 that I had downloaded was missing a bunch of files, so I went and downloaded the United Air one.

Good to see you got it working. Sorry I couldnt get an answer to ya sooner.. been working today. But I was going to suggest another model, as I figured something was missing, or wasnt a vc model at all.
