FSX-SP1 released!!!

FSX including FSX Steam version.

[quote]Wtf.

With Sp1 now the ground textures blur when flying at only 250knots after about 10 seconds. I got FTTF to .99, framelock at 10 and TBM at 400 and it STILL did it.

Maybe I missed it somewhere among these 7 pages, but has anyone noticed that landing lights (addon aircraft & FS9) now illuminate the runway?? YAAAAAAAAY :)

Believe it or not, but I actually get more frames without the AG trees & Buildings lines in my config file. Also, the cloud 9 landclass almost doubles my FPS too...

That makes sense since it raises the default values to 4500/3000

You were @ 3000/1500

It would be interesting to know where you end up finding your best settings.

I still think the base sliders are the ticket and its just a matter of finding the AG slider and numbers but with the addition of the same entries, just not a high FFTF or TBM.

Something you could try is to put the lines in the file but make them 2/1 and test the different slider levels, example

Trees: 4500
Buildings: 2250

or

Trees: 5000
Buildings: 2500

or

Trees: 6000
Buildings: 3000

I am not sure if you are seeing the same thing the rest are with FFTF. Yours was .45 and it would be interesting to know if .33 is what is working for your system.

Dont assume because "Normal" runs choppy like its got too much AG running that "very dense" will be worse. That is where you discovered with RTM jacking the values smooths it out and Miltest is seeing the same thing on his with SP1

I can second that to a certain extent. On a fresh FSX + SP1 install, without any .cfg tweaks, maximum autogen density runs surprisingly well.

Are you running a modified Autogendescriptions files?
Or one of the ones that got put into the Autogen folder after SP1?

Aaaand I just noticed I made a mistake...I put in my old modified Default.xml (cosmetical changes) without saving the original (SP1) one.
Could someone send it to me?

As for the ground blurries: Got them from day one on, and still can't get them fixed. WideViewAspect=True and VSync improves things at least a bit.

Just shooting my own experience so far with FSX SP1...

I'm completely awestruck  :o

Before, when I first got FSX, I had barely been able to run with low/medium low settings. Now, I can run the Aircraft tab MAXED, with the Scenery tab at around 50% settings (No AI really). I have it locked at 15fps and I stay between 8-15 on average, without much FPS stutter (Very, VERY flyable in other words).

I'm in love with FSX again! Shame I lost all my "Mission Complete" settings  :'(

Oh well, they were fun. Time to get flying again  8-)

Interesting about the blurries

It almost sounds like they spooled back the terrain calls in order to gain more CPU so what you have after SP1 is a fancy FFTF system that is now handicapped to gain performance and in the process they removed the user

Nick...I think you nailed it with your last post.

I ended up doing what PT said and did a pristine re-install. I have tweaked my OS exactly as you advised in a prior thread.
I have none of the issues, including blurries, posted elsewhere. I started to install addons and FSX started to go downhill fast.
I ended up uninstalling the addons and installed MegaScenery designed for FSX. I have the fps locked at 25 and it flies consistantly against the 25 stop.

System is a Intel 830EE processor OC'ed to 3.5GHz, 2GB RAM, and a single NVidia 8800GTX.

I'm very interested in your testing and will continue to monitor this thread.

I helped get rid of blurries by changing SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT= to 1.333333333333333 times the frame lock (Default frame lock is 20 while default SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT=30, so basically framelock X 1.33333.

As suggested I removed all FS-X files and reinstalled clean, defragged, installed cloud9 and Caranado 206, using clean CFG, tried TBM,Trees and Bldgs etc to no avail.  Last night I removed TBM,Trees and Bldgs (used default)
Frame Rate 18
Airline 30
GA      29
Freeway 22
Ships 10
Boats 15

All settings are maxed, the only problems I have are, Renton Municipal is a light green when I pan to it, changes after a few seconds, very slight stutter occasionally when turning. Smooth flight, very clear detail at low level (1500-2500') Just sensational scenery. Night lighting is as real as it gets.  Very impressed. After about 15 minutes flying around the Renton area everything changed drastically, somewhat like lowest quality settings, paused system, minimized, restarted and everything was ok again, happened again about 10 minutes later, maybe running out of memory, cpu overburdened, don't know.

My Opteron 170 is supposed to arrive tomorrow, looking forward to it. Hopefully it will cure the slight stutter and I can find the reason for the changes that take place.

Sure would like to see some of the Classics (Connie, MAAM DC3) available for X..I am in awe of the night lighting, it is just as I remember it back in the 50's..

Edit, 1202 EST Everything went bad again and I had to restart FS .  Did it again after a few minutes, had to restart again.  Temps look fine, looking for suggestions.

Here's what I'm at at the moment:

TBM = 326 (Pre-SP1 value)
Framelock = 19
WideViewAspect=False (Was True pre-SP1)
PerfBucket=60 (Placebo effect??)
AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5
AffinityMask=3 (Certainly placebo, but I think it helped)

Plus the AutogenDescriptions_Med applied (supplied with SP1, located in the "Autogen" folder. Just exchange it for the normal file by renaming).

Result: Smooth performance, same visuals as pre-SP1 and maximum autogen.

No FFTF, SWT, TMATPC or TMABPC "tweaks".

My only "problem" is the blurries. They're not worse as before SP1, but still...
But I guess Aces simply screwed up the detail radius.

But you might give the above a shot, Black ZR-1. I think those values will work for you pretty well. Or use them as a starting point.

If I was Bill Gates and the MSFS franchise was important to me, I would fire them all, right now.
