oh.  the B737-800 already have winglets and still wasnt able to fly it farther. Anyway, as per their advices, im adjusting myself to fly bigger planes such b767 or a340-200.  I really thought you can do something about the attached winglets to make the plane fly farther.

Thanks just the same.

Winglets add a measurable but only marginal increase in range, more importantly they improve fuel efficiency over standard routes.

A 737, even the ER versions have range limitations.  Why not?  After all they were designed to serve airports in relatively close range to each other with fast and modern jet travel, lifting relatively large loads, with great efficiency.  At this they excel.

As you have found there are other Boeings as well as Airbus to handle the longer routes.  Indeed as the global economy falters the A330 and B777 and B767 are now handling routes once the complete preserve of the 747.

These are also a great challenge to the simmer to get the best trade-off between payload and range.

These models are abundantly available as free or payware.

But I can't help the obvious.  Just check unlimited fuel in the settings menus, and you can fly a Piper Cub across the Atlantic.  If you can stay awake long enough.

the increase in range due to winglets is secondary... their primary effect is to increase lift without increasing the wingspan, thus increasing fuel efficiency, therefore, range

if I remember correctly, the efficiency gained by having winglets installed (in the 737NG series at least) is just 5%

doesn't help much if your engines cut out half way through the trip
