FSX path
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X
FSX SE path
C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam Apps\Common\FSX
It looks just like your FSX install
You'll see they are 2 different paths and not installed to the same folder. The biggest thing is to make sure you have the room for the 10.3 gig download from Steam that takes average 2 to 3 hours to download and install. After that a person is all set to jump right in and sim.
I've installed aircraft with no problems. The most part is operator error when installing their add-ons, or FSX SE to their operating system. I run XP and it works great, other Window operators such as 7 on up get issues just because mainly they don't know how to install to their computer. I'm going to put REX in today. Lets say there is a issue with FSX SE, it does not interfere with your other FSX installed already.
The only issue I have is in the Learning Center, and Lessons, they neglected to add the running script yet. They may have fixed that I just haven't checked again. Seems the SDK is missing a few files that allow developers to create scenery, and etc. Besides those issues FSX SE runs great for me, and I'm in Multiplayer sharing aircraft, hosting a room.
For the price it costs to get the FSX SE I'm sure you have gambled more than that away in your life
