Oh, another addition, I'd like to see a more realistic failure system.

Especially to be able to be surprised by failures, and thinking things through more thoroughly before going on a flight to wherever.

This item is a gripe, in that it's hard to not address it any other way. There are (and have been going back several MSFS versions) annoying little bugs/discrepancies/missing-functions (mostly in VCs) where key panel functions are concerned. They're only evident when you try to fly a flight from start to finish, realistically, and probably only stick out to a real pilot. I can't help but think that if real pilots were more involved in testing, that these items would have been addressed.

Thats not a gripe.. thats a real world pilot and instructor expressing the need for changes in missing cockpit controls which need to be addressed/changed to resemble the real world.

The gripes I was referring to are related to frame and other perf problems that Aces is well aware of. Phil will be making blog posts about what they are doing for performance over the next year and already started that with their research into buss calls with respect to autogen and other rendering elements

As I recall they are calling this performance research Wave09 and Phil will be reporting to the community on their findings as 2009 progresses

I am sure a good part of that is to take a good look at the new Intel/AMD systems as they come online and see where they can take true advantage in application design of areas like memory disambiguation/optimizing/prefetch, etc with respect to the new CPU/chipset/VC platforms becoming available over the next year and further out.

I would LOVE to see them bring the Concorde back, I know it's not in service but I really enjoyed the FS2000 version and would like to see it again. ;)

I don't want it...

I'll be with FS9 forever and ever and ever and ever...  :P

A full overhead cockpit and more commercial airplanes like keep the 747 and 737 but do a a380, 777, md-80, md-11..
It would be nice to see all of that with the overhead panel with every button.. (and I dont mean in VC where its all blurry)  ;)

I think the days of 2D cockpits are numbered. I never fly 2D anymore, VC only, and with hardware changes over the next year+ I really do not see any need for them anymore either.

Who would want to fly the default Beaver in 2D??

If made right the VC is the place to be!

And I agree... better default controls in the cocpits to include good overheads!

But do remember, MSFS is designed for people to MAKE these things too so although such items as good working overheads are nice, time may play into their creation.

I would like to see the ability to turn window reflections ON and OFF... some of them are great while others are annoying!

"Motion bluring" from both the inside and outside views.  Not really important, though, but under the right circumstances, it would be a great effect.

more realistic flight dynamics

option to have failures occur completely randomly instead of having to set it up

better ATC

not much heavier on system resources than fsx ;) (although i cant really complain since im running a 4 year old system ;))

Boy the realism in failures is really popular.. kinda figured it would be

I have to agree.. more emphasis on realistic failures and the consequences of making wrong decisions around them is tops on my list too.. but the pilot should be able to emergency or if need be, crash land and ride out the landing to the end

The simpit building community is certainly a small part of the overall market, BUT...... as evidenced by the number of sites showing up on the net and the number of hardware and software manufacturers popping up...... it is growing fast.  And on the whole, these people tend to spend a LOT of money on the hobby  8-).

My interests lie in the new edition providing more features that allow cockpit builders to realize more real world realism.

One aspect that relates to this is to internally model far more potential aircraft systems than are presently simulated, and also the interrelated nature of those systems (ie.- screw up on monitoring something and it breaks realistically, and when that goes, so eventually do other things).  In some cases, when somthing like this breaks, it needs to be tied to the visual model and or effects.

A good example of this in major system stuff is something like the hydraulics systems.  It is there only in the most rudimentary fashion in fs2004 and fsx.  So much more could be done.

One example of the kind of "minor systems" I am talking about might be the condition of the brakes.  As one applys the brakes, they heat up from friction.  The heavier the aircraft, and the higher the speed at the time they are applied, the hotter they get.  Some aircraft have brake fans that assist with this if they are turned on.  Some don't.  Having SOME sort of modeling of this aspect (and hence some offsets that stuff like FSUIPC of SimConnect give acces to) would be a great step in the right direction.

Add on developers like PM and Ellie Systems, and Opencockpits (et al) are nicely taking care of the networked computers software for stuff like Boeing (and other) avionics for the stand alone computers.  But the DATA stream that they can take easy advantage of comes out of the sim itself.

So I would hope that this kind of market is not overlooked in the future.

best,

Lights
Better Multiplayer server Go to h*** Gamespy fixing the sinking landing gears etc...
Better quality VC's/panels
Realism
A repaint program maybe...
Full FSX/FS11 compatibility
Better use of my framerates...
I would like to see an MD-88 and a c130 or c17 in there...787??? I could live without the a380 actually.
More realistic/3D waves...and beaches 8-)
The list could go on and on...
But my main ones are in bold.

One thing that is not clear or at least I have not read anything about it on Phil blog at this point is backwards compatibility and to tell you the truth, if I had to choose between having better features with better perf and compatibility with FSX, I would say NO to compatibility and let the ALL new shine in

I want to see better flight dynamics especially with aerobatics making lomcevocks tumbles and knife edge spins possible. I also would like to see a larger variety of aircraft. Planes I would like to see include Sean Tucker's Challenger,  Edge 540, CAP 580, AT-6 Texan, and uniqe one of a kind planes like Space Ship One and White Knight. Another Idea is better ground textures and the addition of the USAF museum to Wright Patterson Air Force base along with its seldom used runway.
