THAT'S what I needed, guys.  Thanks.

I was leery of using the repair option as I wasn't sure if I would have lost all my imported stuff, and that wouldn't have been good. Too much time trying to get it all working to have to install and tweak it all again.

THIS time I back up not only the original panel, gauges, and so forth-files, I now also back up the Sim Objects file. Must've been vapor locked to have forgotten to back THAT one up!

Thanks for the help. You folks r the best in the business!  8-)

Running the FSX REPAIR only restores missing or damaged default files. Period.

I would assume that's why it is called "REPAIR" and not "REPLACE..."  ;D

Would not a modified default file be considered damaged or corrupt? :P

No

The repair option in my opinion is very limited in what it can repair. Its for missing files more than anything else and I dont trust it well enough to run the RTM disk repair with Acceleration or service packs installed

Thanks for clearing that up.

Tried. Failed. Ended up with a fresh install of FSX. Oh well. Learned a valuable lesson in backing up...or not working on files when tired. Thanks all. Appreciate all the feedback.

Fr. Bill:
If not for all this kind of support, we, who have questions that directly affect our being able to continue enjoying our favorite sim, wouldn't be able to draw on the collective knowledge of those smarter and more familiar with FSX, than us. Sorry you hold such a low opinion of us all.

Most of us VALUE such a place to exchange knowledge and help for others.
