People should seriously start using their hands to fly the plane...

Not just to tune the instruments.

I only use ILS on Commercial Jets..
I like landing manually on props and fighter jets..
But sometimes ill do ILS on props just for tests..

Hey guys, those of us who have, or have had, a real world GA instrument rating learned to fly the ILS manually.

I get an impression from this thread that to use the ILS means using the autopilot,  No way.  In light planes it is good practice to tune the ILS for quidance purposes in VFR, but in IFR you can hand fly the ILS by including it in your scan and maintain glideslope and speed using throttle - carefully - and only for glideslope never speed once you are established.

FSX is great for practising the ILS manually in all sorts of weather.

Ditch the AP and approach buttons.
