On a more serious matter, I think that the game is going to need more options in the menu.  In FS9, your display options are fairly limited, and mostly general.  I think that they need to give you more options for scenery settings.  For example, instead of having just 2 autogen sliders, have multiple ones: One for trees, one for buildings, one for airport facilities, etc.  For traffic and dynamic stuff, allow you to change the density of air traffic, ground traffic, birds, animals, people, etc.  Those are just 2 examples, but I really think that the options and settings will make or break the game for many of us.  Everyone keeps worrying about their computer not handling the game.  While your computer (and my computer) probably wont handle the game as we see it in the videos, im sure that everyone here (with the exception of those using really old computers with below 2 Ghz processors and not so good vid cards) will be able to use FSX.  The real reason to buy it is not the eye candy, but for all the overall improvements.  I mean, I can run with my settings near max and get good frames.  I might have to tune them down for FSX, but from what weve seen, it will be worth it.  It looks like we will have fixed flight dynamics, better graphics, better scenery, better texture mapping, better terrain.

I'm inclined to agree Jake - the M$ videos are probably taken from super-hyper-microsoft-has-bought-the-best-computer, and many (like myself) have...well... "humble" systems, and are probably worried about how FSX will run. With more sliders and settings, this can REALLY enhance it for us as we would be able to be more selective and enhance on areas of which we want, and cut down on those which absorb framerates. :)

You do know your CPU is exactly 2.0 GHz, right? ::) Hehe.. I know you're talking about Intel processors, but you didn't make that very clear.. ;)

What?  Mine is 2.20 GHz.

But as far as the settings goes, look at all the stuff we saw in the video.  That was all taken probably with sliders maxed on the best dual core processor money can buy with at least 4 GB of RAM and Dual SLi with 7800GTs.  But what if in settings we can turn off sun glint, water reflections, animated animals, animated people, animated ground scenery.  Turn off all of these details and you still have a great looking game and you wouldnt be watching a slideshow

One of the developers went through this on Avsim. I can't remember the details but the computer used wasn't anything out of the ordinary and certainly wasn't cutting edge, something like 2.5ghz processor, 2 gig memory, I've gone blank on the graphics card but it wasn't particularly high end. Everything you see uses DX9.
Hope that helps a bit.

Yes I crapped my pants, but I'm afraid for the wrong reason.

I hope this doesn't turn into another CFS3.
