Thanks again Stephane, Rich and Paul.

I have the latest NVIDIA Driver and I read the Link provided by pegger.

I read some interesting replies on that Link and to be honest am not sure what it is all about or just how to go about the changes or even should as there are serious after effects in Windows 10.

Would it not be more reasonable to just purchase FSX SE and be done with it.

I know nothing about FSX Steam other than what I read here on the Forums and some say it is OK while others are not Keen on it.

Is it possible that FSX Deluxe plus Acceleration is not capable of blending together ORBX and REX where FSX SE does not have that problem :?:

I would rather not put any more money into this Hobby if a New Flight Simulation Program is on the 2017 Horizon.

Stephane will check out FSX Steam further to see what I think of it before purchasing it.
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

So far, FSX Steam is just the good old FSX as you already know it.
The differences are:
- it received some fixes, both for performance and bugs. In the worst case, it runs just the same as FSX, but with a bit more stability.
- it uses a different network for the multiplayer (the original multiplayer mode in FSX doesn't work anymore).
- you install it, launch it and update it via Steam, which means everything is done in just a click or two.
- because FSX existed on your computer (even if you uninstall it, some traces will remain somewhere I guess), FSX Steam will detect that, and thus it will use different folders for the FSX.cfg than the original FSX. For example, it will be located in "c:\users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX-SE\" (instead of "...\FSX\").

That it more or less. Most third party software has been updated to work with FSX-SE since a long time, including the OrbX stuff.

But once again, I would just advise you to buy it now, because of the sales, but not to install it now.
Steam works exactly like any online store, like JustFlight or Simmarket: once you buy a product, your account remembers it. You're not forced to download and install it immediately, you can wait and do it any time, right ? With Steam, it's just the same.

So if you buy FSX Steam, don't install it now. For now, we should just continue to investigate your FSX-Original problems.
PS: after you upgraded your NVidia drivers, did you delete the FSX shaders to regenerate them ?

Tucker
Are you not using GEFORCE EXPERIENCE to update your video drivers.
Here is the link for it. This program will all ways let you know if there is an update for your video card and it makes installing it easy.
I would suggest that when asked that you preform a custom installation as it will ad a 3D vision driver and unless you have a 3D monitor you do not need this.
This is how I do it. Mind you it will not cause any problems if you install the 3D driver but why install something that you have no need for.
This is the way to go
This program will only work for Nvida GPU'S
The best feature it has is that it will adjust your video card to output the best picture it can without you having to do any thing.
This program uninstalls your present driver than will install the latest driver without you doing anything at all.

Good morning Stephane...

Once the NVIDIA Program GEFORCE EXPERIENCE finished installing the New Driver...376.33 Dec. 13th that was all, I just checked and that is the latest Driver for my system, there are no new updates.

I didn't do anything else...not sure how or where to delete the FSX shaders....thought everything was automatically done by NVIDIA GEFORCE EXPERIENCE.

I wonder if that is what is causing my problem :?:

One other question Stephane...is FSX GOLD "STEAM" and can't find anything anywhere on FSX SE :?:

Wondering if I should purchase both STEAM and FSX GOLD (unless FSX GOLD is STEAM) or FSX SE (if I could find it) just to eliminate the separate installation of Acceleration and the two Service Packs.

Hi Doug

My understanding is that FSX Steam Edition is FSX Gold just less hassle to install and no DVD's to damage.

I have to be honest with you I have no idea as to what it exactly does or does not do. All I know is that it makes installing video card drivers a simple task. In the past I never knew if I had the current driver for my card and did not know of any way to find out. I was leery to just update my driver as I had no way of knowing if I needed to or not. This program takes care of all of that and you now know that you will always have the latest driver that your card will need and the best part is it makes adjustment based on your system so you do not have to worry about it.
That is why I said I did not think your problem was driver or graphics card related. it is just a case of trying to do too much.
I would set your frame rates to 30 and leave them alone.
Others do not under stand that frame rates can be different because of the system that each person is using.
What works on one system great may not work at all on another system. Things like this are based upon system specs period.
Now if you find out that 30 is to high than drop down to 20
I have my rates locked at 30 and have never had a problem but than I am not using a lot of scenery addons . I have some Mega Scenery and use one version of Active Sky depending upon which sim I am using.
And that is because there is a big difference between FS9 and FSX .
I do know that if you try to display to many textures it can create a problem. And I think that is what is happening in your case.

Good morning all... <<q

OK...have read several articles on this "Steam" or FSX Gold and not sure that is the way I want to go.

I don't like the idea of having to buy add-ons to create a Scenario or Cross Country Flight.

Since I have some Payware Simulated Aircraft I do not see where these might or might not work with Steam...could end up having wasted a lot of money on Payware Simulated Aircraft.

I saw ORBX mentioned but did not see where my three ORBX Scenery would work in Steam...could not find anything with regards to Steam and REX Products.

Is there anyone on our Simviation Forums that uses Steam, P3D, ORBX, REX and Payware Simulated Add-ons all together. I would like to read what they think of the program versus just FSX Deluxe plus Acceleration.

Does anyone know of any other Flight Simulator Program being developed.

Good morning from Snowy Canuck Land Gary... <<q

Yes it is snowing, windy and poor visibility for walking or driving right now.

Good time to fire of the Flight Simulator...

I think what I should do is remove/delete REX and rely on my ORBX Weather and Textures, will leave my Frame Rate at 30 and if I remember correctly 24 seemed to work well so can go there if have too.

Thanks for your comments again...much appreciated.

Everything that works in FSX will work in FSX Steam Edition (SE) with no problems, I would recommend that you uninstall the old FSX and then a clean install of SE. Even better would be a complete reinstall of Windows 10 and then install SE. I have loads of payware scenery and Aircraft and have no issues with any of them.
