FSX-Boxed had problems in win7x64 because uiautomationcore.dll was not in the program.
Dovetail has incorporated it in FSX-SE, it is in the main directory.

Download, extract and place in FSX main directory:

Fozzer: Let me assure you that the interior of both my PC is as clean as Surgical Room. I periodically take each PC to the garage and blow out all the insides paying particular attention to the CPU and video fins. But thanks for the heads up. I tried loading my older FS2004 but when I click on the icon to start the game it kept giving me this notice that I don't have administrator privileges which I have. I've read from other threads complaining of similar problem so I uninstalled it. I can get a hard copy of the FSX:Steam for around 20 bucks. I use a separate SSD for my FSX so I will do complete uninstall of the Boxed FSX and give FSX:Steam a try. BTW I feel better knowing that I am not the only one experiencing the freeze up although I don't wish it on anyone.

I gave up on the freezing up issue. If I have unlimited amount of money I could buy the most powerful rig in the market and make the box FSX work as it should but still no guarantee. So I decided to buy and load the FSX Steam. So far so good but then there were files and folders in the box FSX that I couldn't find in the FSX Steam. For example where will I find the folder Simobjects containing the files Airplane, Helicopter, Boats, etc. After I loaded the FSX Steam in D:\Program Files, I couldn't find the folder that shows FSX Steam. Instead I found a whole bunch of files. I would like to make some add-ons but I don't know where to begin or if I can use some of the box FSX aircraft. To start with, FSX Steam has only one default B737-800. How can I add variations of the model.

Steam game files are located in your "program files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common... There you will find all the game files that steam has saved on your computer.. then you may add your addons airplanes etc.
FSX Acceleration.. FSrealWX..VLSO..AICarriers...FSWC....WOAI...MilitaryAI....Windows 10....

Hi bubblehead. I suggest strongly that you don't get ahead of yourself.
FSX-Steam is brand-new to you. You should probably test fly FSX-SE extensively and then adjust the settings bit by bit to find what works best on your "puter.

I would not add any addons of any kind until you are well-versed on how everything works in SE. That would just add confusion. If you suddenly have a problem you won't know what caused it.

Another suggestion that I would make right now it to go to YOUTUBE in the evenings and look up everything there is on FSX-SE. They will show you precisely how to add aircraft, scenery such as ORBX Global Base [ which I can't live without now]. There are all kinds of settings suggestions etc etc etc. Read and re-read until you are very confident about how it all works together.

Then load up a very simple basic addon airplane from Simviation [such as a Cessna 150 etc.] When you can add that on and make it work perfectly then you can look at airplanes like the really good B-737s in Simviation that work perfectly in FSX-SE.
These are just some ideas that you could adjust as necessary to fit your present experience level.

Good luck and be sure to enjoy the process. You will be glad you did in the end.

HaHa! I knew I could smoke Fozzer out of the bushes by mentioning the C-150 [cee-one-five-O Transport] ! In real life I have flown the Cessna 150 AEROBAT aircraft. It had special safety-belts and an actual G-Meter. It could fly basic aerobatic maneuvers in slow-motion! It was kinda fun but before long you wanted to fly the Citabria or Decathlon to speed things up a bit. I wouldn't mind owning an Aerobat today for those sunny Sunday afternoons. I could fly a loop while shouting " take that Fozzer".
Glad you enjoy your Cessna touring.

.... ... ... ...!

After my experience of flying the Auster Aiglet spotter plane during my stint in the British Army on the Rhine in 1956, I had little interest in aircraft again until the various computer games appeared in the early 1980's with the Sinclair Spectrum and Commodore C64, etc...
...then in 1995 Flight Unlimited II/III appeared for the PC, followed by Fly2!, Pro Pilot '99, Gunship, etc, and then, finally, Flight Sim '98 and the rest of the series!
FU II was my rebirth of interest in aircraft again!

Because of that, I took my first one-hour (£100) trial flights in the lovely Cessna 150 with its Rolls Royce engine, and the Cessna 152 with its Textron Lycoming engine at my local Airfield in 2004.

Those two aircraft have been my mainstay in the M$ Flight Sims ever since FS '98!

Rather like the first Car/Motorcycle you ever drove/rode in you driving lessons!.... ...!

Paul....Captain Sensible with a Cessna 150 Aerobat Tricycle (and Tail Dragger!).... ....!

They say FSX Box users need to update & install the Latest "UI-DLL" File,,, theres some threads on the issue

some say it worked and solved their problem, and others say it didn't,,,,

Hola Mr. Fozzer. Now I understand, after your flew those Austers the Shiny new Cessna 150/152's would be like flying a LearJet ! hehehe....

The Cessnas you flew in Europe would have been the ones built under licence by Rheims Aviation. The Continental engines were built under licence by Rolls Royce. Quite nice little aircraft and very popular.

The quickest way to find out where programs are located is to RIGHT click on the shortcut for the program and than click on properties. It will show you exactly where on your system any programs are at.
By default both FS9 and FSX will install on the C drive under Program Files or Program Files(86) for 64 bit systems than under Microsoft Games
Steam is different "program files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common
Since Windows 7 the Program File folder is more protected by the operating systems, It has to do with permissions while there are several ways around this issue as I have stated numerous times The easiest way to solve this problem is to install FSX or FS9 anywhere other than the default location. The best place is on a drive that does not contain your operating system on it
In my case I have FSX installed on my D drive and FS9 installed on my E drive.
This one topic has caused more argument than you can shake a stick at. Bottom line here is whatever way you fell the most comfortable of doing it.
Now it is a whole different argument as to why Microsoft started locking down the Program file folder But whatever the reason they did.
But like I said to me the easiest way around this problem is not to install any third party software inside of the program file folder
