DC-3 - Legends of Flight is one option, learning the correct way to aliasing the cockpit is another (possibly here).

More or less this is the START of a procedure for changing in FSX (and derivatives) a VC for another. But this is ONLY for using the default DC3 VC.
If you want to use Manfred'sVC in a default DC3 or in the JF Legends of flight you'll need also make changes in the texture folders.

I'll post a procedure asap.

Here you have a general procedure:

http://forums.simviation.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=173707

Change the VC of the default DC3 for Manfred's C47 VC is easy. If someone wants to make the change I can help.

For someone as unartistic as I am, I'm going to wait for the completion of the cockpit in the Manfred's DC-3 gets authentic VVC post.

It's not finished yet, but to me, this looks great for the older DC-3/C-47 cockpits.

The first two are older pictures

On the other hand, I'd like to see this Douglas C-47 Skytrain V2 cockpit in more commercial planes too.

If the files I mentionned made no difference, then there's a problem. They should have at least impacted the P51, which uses the default files, as far as I understand.
They also impact the beauty of the glass reflections, by the way.

For the tint of the DC-3, it could be that it uses its own files located in his folders. In that case, it won't use the default one.
This is, for example, also the case with the A2A P-51, which uses a local file named env.dds for the reflections, instead of the default globalenvtest.dds.
Could you take a look into the various texture folders of that DC3 to check if there are any files with *env* in their names ?

EDIT: I just did that. The "zip file preview" addition in SimViation main site is really useful :)

The high-resolution texture that you mentionned in your first post includes a custom chrome reflection: Globalenv_AC_chrome.dds.
Try to replace that with the one in the archive I mentionned. Or even better, just drop the two files of the archive directly into that repaint folder, and check if it makes a difference (it really should).

Thanks, Daube, but I'm going to let it be.

I downloaded the zip file alternate_globalenvtest, and tried it as you described (and several permutations) with no luck.

You, I believe, have NVidia, and this may help you significantly. On my AMD R9 280X card, it seems to have no effect at all, with any plane.

I think that the problem lies with my AMD video card & system. And as it affects no other aircraft I won't worry about it.

There are other aircraft to use, and things to do.

Thank you, again.

I don't think this problem is related to the type of video card...
I'm going to download that plane to test it. It's the links in your very first message, right ?

Yes.

The problem existed in P3d V2.x, and was barely noticeable in FSX.

There is one texture, of one aircraft that has a problem in P3d V3, that wasn't in V2.X at all - the Spartan Executive.

The "Executive metal flake red".

This isn't a problem because I rarely used the red version. I'm just using this as an example of something that is now different in V3.

Ok, I downloaded the plane and the repaint, and I was also getting the pink tint.
After placing the alternate files everywhere, I couldn't rectify it, just like you.
So I guess the tint comes from the spec files, there's not much we can do to change that.

I got confused because I got, in the past, another freeware archive which was similar to that alternate_globalenvmap. I believe it was also made by Hani Michal, but I'm not really sure. However, the effect of that archive was a pink tint on ALL of my metallic aircrafts, which dissappeared when I reinstalled the alternate_globalenvmap from Rob Rivera.

Concerning the Spartan, sorry if I already asked, but is that the FS9 one of the "converted to FSX-native" one ?

Sorry, missed this post. It was the FSX version.

With all of the talk about the DC-2, DC-3 & C-47, you guys really ought to give the upcoming DC-3 World Rally a try! I think you'd enjoy it a lot; it's fun, but challenging at the same time.

Alan :)
