It has always been done via the included Product Code contained within the sealed jewel cases or manual during the DVD installation.
Just had a peek inside the jewel case of my FSX Deluxe Edition, and the Product Code is included inside the case, ready to enter during installation process.
No problems.
Paul.
FSX is different from the others Paul. Yes, the product code is included in the package but after entering it you had to activate (register) it online. Otherwise it was limited to 30 minutes a session. You must have done this when you last installed it.
Since MS stopped supporting FSX this is no longer possible. I think the only way of doing it now is to phone them. Fortunately I haven't had to reinstall FSX but from what I've read on other FS forums there might be problems activating it if you're in Europe or the UK.
Ta for the reminder on the difference between FSX, from the others, Doug...I had long forgotten!...
I now vaguely remember the very quick (instant?) verification over the internet...(no phoning).
Its been a long while since I last installed it, and I haven't had to re-install it since...fortunately!
I just hope that if my computer goes mammary-up in the future, I don't have problems re-verifying FSX again, even though I still have the Product Code Key!
It will be interesting to see if the Internet Verification still works?...I never did fancy long-distance, land-line phoning!
Paul....
