Yes that is the way teh flaps operate on the Lysander, and if you look at teh Skyhawk the, leading edge flap is teh same. Apparently on them they didnt always drop together on both sides which could cause interesting effects.

Despite its appearance, the Lysander was aerodynamically advanced; it was equipped with fully automatic wing slots and slotted flaps[1]

Apparently the first test flight if i remember caught teh pilot off guard and it crashed.

Thanks for the info.

I can see how it might have been an advanced design that didn't work out all that well, due to its being human/mechanical controlled.

I'll fly it some more tonight.

I found an interesting article on flying the Lysander by Andy Sephton, until recently chief pilot of the Shuttleworth Collection. He regularly displayed the Collection's Lysander & describes the automatic slat/flap system & other advanced features. http://www.haa-uk.aero/pilots-notes-detail.php?pn-id=9

The Lysander was designed by W.E.W "Teddy" Petter who went on to design the Canberra, Lighning & Folland Gnat.

I haven't tried the Storch yet.

May give it a try one of these days.

Still use the Helio H-295 for most of my STOL activities though.
