Miltest was right. All they did was rob Peter to pay Paul in the final SP1 release

There is no way to come up with a system that will allow tweaking any more. Even if you get it locked down in one area, another area may throw it all off. They added more config file crap to the mix and removed so much function from the settings that allowed a user to see a defined change and allow them to find a "solid-window" of settings that would be a good 'give and take' for different scenarios, making it impossible to lock down a pattern which works everywhere. It seems like you must build a different config file fo different flying.

To find the settings that work best in one area one must be a graphics engineer or like to tweak more than fly. This has turned into a "hide the problems" circus instead of a flight sim.

Did I find what works here?

Just installed it.  I moved my logbook and rewards out, then deleted or moved my addon a/c.  Although strangely the a/c were back when it was done installing.  Very impressed so far, haven't had time to really see what i could do with it.

I wish to make something perfectly clear. I do not intend to go through this or any other forum past this post and state what I think about the software as it stands right now.

Yes, I am glad they made changes and I also commend them for the upgrades FSX provides. What I will not tolerate is a list of technical fixes bull$hit when all they did was make the software less visually appealing and harder to set up, just to cover the fact that it needs another service pack, which will not be until DX10.

Before I leave for Alaska I intend to take one of my copies into someone

Ouch they are strong words indeed.  So you are saying that the original FSX was improvable but now has been restructured in such a way that it is impossible for consistent and linear adjustments to be made.  We are condemned now to running the default with the odd tweak along the lines setout by Phil Taylor in his blog.  Can third party designers bypass these limitations, or are they also confined to the limits of the new structure?  It also sounds like we must adjust sliders for the area in which we are flying.  Unlike FS9 where we had reached a stage where the sliders remained in place without need to change.

Without being smart Camel Moe, your user name is more than obviously ambiguous, and the spelling is 'similar' not....
