FSX Acceleration worth getting?

So... is it worth picking it up at the store?

Here is my opinion. I would go buy it, but I am seriously strapped for cash. My McDonalds wages just aren't cutting my travel savings (China 2008 baby  ;D)

As for now, I just use freeware models of the exact same aircraft...

I have a budget pc, onboard graphics, so it's no biggie with this whole....DX10 thingy.

And I have school to concentrate on, I can't be playing with acceleration aircraft instead of studying if I want to be succesfull one day.

There's my opinion...enjoy

P.S. those were more or less excuses for why I don't have it  :-[

I just got "Acceleration" a few days ago and so far, I am not sure what I think of it. The new aircraft are alright I suppose and the new missions are pretty kewl but so far, I don't see anything that makes it worth $30.

Absolutely worth it.  Show me any other payware that gives you 3 extremely detailed aircraft, 10 (I think) new photo real sceneries, a load of new missions, and the ability to take-off and land on aircraft carriers.  Well worth the money for me at least.

I also bought it and this is my opinion:

Firstly the 3 new aircraft is splendid, the f18 is extremely detailed and I just love the shiney livery on the p-51.

The merlin, well I dont fly such big heli's yet but she does look nice, despite the very ugly VC on this birdy.

As for the missions, rock on....they are well done and I just love them, chasing poachers in a jeep through african jungles is great.

Chasing UFO's at high speed, different.

Landing in extreme bad mountain weather to pick up a pregnant woman....priceless.

Now I am not running on DX10, I am still on DX9 and let me tell you something, I am currently getting 10 more FPS after installing acceleration. O and I just love the crips scenery at 40 000 feet.

IMO....really worth it, I consider this an investment rather then a spending issue.

It messed up my graphics big time. DX 10 made it worse. Unless they come up with an update or patch, I wasted $32. I wasn't really crazy about the aircraft either... I don't "fly" choppers, the P 51 has a fuel cell on one side (not fun to fly unless racing), and I got the F 18 from SimV. Just .02 worth... Semper Fi, Dave

well i got it and i love it, the rescue missions are fun and challenging and the military missions add a new dynamic to the sim. never was crazy about the race missions though. and i have discovered that i cant carry anything with a helicopter cable worth a damn!

thanks for the input all!  :D

One thing that needs to be mentioned....
Acelleration will make some  add-on aircraft unuseable for the most part due to some textures that are no longer supported. This is true even for DX9.

If this is important to you, it should be a consideration.

Yes and no.
No because the old textures formats will definitely not be supported anymore.
Yes because some payware makers are issuing patches for their aircrafts to solve those problems, and sometimes you can even fix it yourself by converting the textures to the correct format with the right tool.
