"Moving Jetways"

Postby Super_Game » Wed Oct 11, 2006 8:42 pm

Hello, folks. According to Microsoft, there are apparently moving jetways in the detailed airports in FSX. However, when I parked my aircraft on the gate, switched off the engines, and opened the cargo and passenger doors, the jetways didn't move into position at all. Only the baggage trucks moved into position at my cargo door. Is there anything special I have to do to get them moving into place? Thanks.

From what I have learned in other site forums, you need to punch in a specific keyboard command to get the jetways to move. Just look into the assignment menu to see the key combinations needed. Some people on other site have reported that the jetways only seem to move automatically for AI aircraft.

I looked in the key commands option and found that you can move it into place by pressing Ctrl+J. However, even after pressing that, it still didn't work.  :-[ I don't know what could be wrong...

I actually tried it on 2 different airports. CYYZ and KDFW and both didn't work  :-[. Also, I have the Deluxe edition installed.

I think there was a special line needed in the aircraft.cfg of the plane in order to get the gate to work properly... am I right ?  ???

That is correct. I've also looked in the assignments section and it says Ctrl+J, but that doesn't work. Also, I tried it with two default aircrafts; the B738 and the B744. They still don't move with both of those aircrafts.

It's the little bridge/tunnel that comes to the door of your liner to let the passengers get in or out in the airport.

You said that they do not move even with defaul aircrafts ? Then you must have some setting set too low in the config of FSX.

Probably a detail setting

But yes, you need a special section for it and that isnt on most of the AI planes available right now

If one is already having framerate / stuttering and texture loading and other such issues with FSX, how does turning "on" advanced animations impact those issues?

best,

"Advanced Animations" is already checked in my display settings. Also, I've noticed the jetways don't move into place even with AI aircrafts.
