Start by confirming you have the FSX SDK.

If you have that, then you have the basic tools ready to begin.

Start by downloading ADEx (Airport design editor). A copy of SBuilderx might also be useful. ADE is great for editing existing airports. SBuilder is great for modifying large areas of terrain, roads, railways, water cover, etc.

There are lots of great tutorials on how to use these two amazing free programs. Play around with them and take the time to learn and understand.

After you master those two programs, you might even start looking into creating custom buildings and objects for ultimate realism.

Good luck

You need a program like this one called Airport Design editor. This is freeware but the only problem is you need to have the SDK from FSX GOLD EDITION
as this is the only place where you will find the needed BGL compiler. If you have or know someone that you can borrow there disk from the SDK is on the 1st CD.
Here is the link for aircraft design editor http://www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk/ade_003.htm

The only way you can either edit or create a airport in FSX is with a BGL compiler and there is only one place to get it from. Sad but true

I used this program to change the runway numbers at my home airport KJAX as they changed due to magnetic variation.
Now mind you the only way to get any airport to look just like the real McCoy is to have photos of it and convert the image. But the only way to get it into FSX is with a BGL compiler.

You have to have the SDK that is on disk one without the BGL compiler there is no way.
If you know someone who has a copy of the SDK or ask here someone might send you a copy but it is a good sized file and not sure if this can be sent by email.
Other than that someone would have to do it for you a send you the BGL files needed.
Of course you still might run into a file size problem.

Before we jump to conclusions, what version do you have? Contrary to the advice given, the SDK also shipped with FSX delux, before acceleration came along.

So simple check here...
Do you have a version with 2 disks?

If not, then as advised, you are stuck with either finding someone to loan you there SDK disk, or finding someone to help do your compiling for you.

Fwiw, you can still do the editing of your airport with ADE, but you won't be able to compile without bglcomp.exe
You could send your saved ADE project to a friend who can compile it for you though.

Hi pyro,
It's my understanding that the tools are included in the P3D SDK. It can be downloaded from a link near the bottom of this page:

http://www.prepar3d.com/support/sdk/

Registration is required but free.

Hi All
I'm a little surprised about the graphics card comments, when I first installed FSX Gold on my PC, I only had a 500mg card ( 9 yrs ago ish) and it worked fine, had no troubles with setting up sdk and ade with a bit of manual editing after a bit of help from Dave, so even if your card is less than what FSX Gold suggests then still go ahead and do a full install.

You are running FSX. Why are you installing any P3D sdk components?

You told me you have FSX:Delux. Therefore, you do have the SDK disk. Load the SDK in your system. You might want to go through the whole process of ensuring you are up to date with SP2. (That's a different topic that you can research). Then when you are done, pay attention to what others are telling you...

There's nothing P3D that you need....

Welcome to the exciting world of FSX development. you need to dig a little deeper into the all the info on the net before you try to dive in head first. Test the waters, so to speak.
My beginners checklist is as follows:
Step 1...RTFM
Step 2...start using it and find out how it works
Step 3...come back with actual questions after completing steps 1 and 2.

If you have a Tower Computer its very unusual for it not to have a Graphics Card already installed in a PCIe slot!
If it has been removed for some reason, all you are left with is the internal graphics chip on the Motherboard, which would be totally unsuitable for playing modern computer games.
I cant figure out why you don't have a PCIe Graphics Card inside your computer!
Has it been removed for some reason?

What are the details of your Computer?

Paul.
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

Pyro, give some actual specs on that computer of yours !

Tell ya right now Pyro, save ya some frustration and lotta headaches - if you don't have a decent video graphics card in your computer and some decent RAM / Memory, your probably goin to have all kinds troubles, Freezes, crashes, and lock ups on whatever type of Computer your using.

and your wantin to edit airports / build airports with that rig ????

Good luck with that :( , that right there uses considerable amounts of memory and processor power , ummmm you might want to either get a better computer or , hate to say it, find another avenue , before you rip your hair out and end up makin mence meat out of that ,,,,, computer you have, whatever it is , with NO Graphics card and probably very little memory huh ????
