Another dumb FPS question

Postby Air Vandalay » Fri Jun 22, 2012 5:47 pm

Hello all;

I'm well aware that it's all about frames per second (I'm only getting 18-24) and I know higher fps will result in smoother operation, but will higher fps improve graphics as well?

Yeah. With the more FPS you have, the more graphic things you can load, so it will look better, however if you put to much on, it will slow it way down.

FSX is not as frame rate, how should I say, perticular or as intensive as FS9. Actually your not doing to bad if your getting 18-24fps. On my old system ( a dell2400 going on 11 years with a 8 yearold ATI grapics card) I was locked at 22 which was fine over most terrain, and would get 7-10 over most big cities. Now with my new sytem I,m getting an easy 24, and 10-15 over more visually intensive terrain, and I'm running smooth 95% of the time. IF you read any of the above stickys in the thread, you'll see that it's not just getting better frame rates that makes FSX run smooth, it's how much you can get out of it by tweeking your sim. These are 2 things that mostly effect fps, and that is the amount of traffic you have and how much rendering of your clouds. It takes a bit to tweek your sim to perfection but it's well worth it when you gitter done.
