Looks like the old TVs!  ;D Probably something to do with the graphics card or software for it. Are there any updates for your graphics software, or have you recently installed any? You've probably already thought of those but just in case..

It has to be a matter of filters.

In the 3D settings of your videocard, keep a value of Anisotropic Filering of 16 and at least an Anti Alias o 4X, Set Textures for max quality and try experimenting with mipmaps values.
There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.

I do believe moire is caused by mipmap/AntiAlias settings. Check these settings in FSX, also.

That high-res Ford Trimotor in your pic has got a corrugated tin skin and will produce moire (interfernce) patterns at certain viewing distances and there's nothing much we can do about it because its an optical illusion and that's just the way it displays on our screens.
All corrugated-skin planes are prone to it (eg Junkers) but some are worse than others.

I too have CR1 Softwares Ford Tri Motor, and that 1 particular Texture does shimmy / glitter like that, on any settings up close. I have an XFX Video Card (2gigs), with 16 Gigs of Ram, and a Quad Core Processor. The rest of the Textures on the rest of the Tri-Motors show & Work just fine tho, and all my other 3000+ Aircraft. Just so ya know. enjoy flying the Vintage Propliners !! Captain IFLY.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzj2BVdabDo&feature=my_favorites&list=FLKUfmGlyrjJXmZ1eq3E695Q
