Windows "Exclamation" Sound!

Postby Fozzer » Fri May 04, 2012 8:11 am

It is so annoying!

After I have had FSX running for a while I get a continual Windows "Exclamation" (!) sound which repeats every 5-10 seconds of so!

This will keep repeating as long as FSX is either running on the screen, or shut down to the Task Bar, and with no other programs running.

(I'm pretty sure I don't get the same problem with FS 2004 running)

Googling the Internet, it appears to be quite a common problem, for all sorts of different reasons.

I have tried shutting down various processes whilst FSX is running, with no success.

Windows is obviously trying to attract my attention to something amiss with the (FSX) program!

The only way I can stop it, is to exit FSX, and re-start it again!

Anyone else annoyed by it?...and maybe have a cure?

Paul.......(!)... :o...!

Never had that problem. :/

But if you are on Windows 7 you can turn off that notification.

If you have recently installed the latest version of FSUIPC4 it is a function of that which warns of low memory. Unfortunately I don't know if it's possible to turn it off.

Ta for the reply, Hurricane... :)...!

I think what I finally did in; "Control Panel > Sounds" was to switch the "Exclamation" sound to "None"....
..that flippin' stopped it!... ;D... ;D...!

I've gone back to my FS 2004 again, so I haven't tried my FSX since, to see if there has been any change in its wayward behaviour!... ;)...!

I may risk it a gain...soon?...perhaps?... ::)...!

Paul...FS 2004... ;D...!
