Scenery installation

Quick question, can you install scenery to an external hard drive and if so, are there any downsides. Will I take a frame hit due to access times etc. My lappy hard drive in getting a bit full. As an addon to my portable cockpit I want to add a hard drive to it as a space saver. Thinking about it, can you add aircraft to the same drive too??

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Depending on the type of scenery, the slower access time and reading speed will cause the following effects:
- longer loading times
- more blurries (especially for photosceneries)
- you might even get more micro-stutters in flight

The installation is nothing special. When you declare the scene, instead of looking in the "addon scenery" folder, just go for your other drive.
