Swap effects?

Can anyone point me to a tutorial or something on swapping effects?  The tire smoke on the eaglesoft CJ1 is WAY too much, I want to swap it for something calmer and more realistic.

Look for the [EFFECTS] part of the aircraft.cfg and replace the effect name with the new effect if you have a better effect file.

Example:
Replace effect x with effect y

Effects file name X.fx and Y.fx

original:
[EFFECTS]
touchdown=X, 1

new:

[EFFECTS]
touchdown=Y, 1
