H.P. Hastings autopilot

Postby TyphooTea » Wed Jul 06, 2011 7:51 am

This aircraft was fitted with a Smiths MK.9 autopilot.
Having flown thousands of miles in one I would like to keep the flight authentic regards to what it is capable of.
It has ( in the sim) an approach mode that I have no idea how to use.
Google seems to be of little help and I hope your learned selves will enlighten me http://205.252.250.26/yabbfiles24/Templ ... smiley.gif

Hi Roger,
Did you see that in the Docs folder there is a PDF document HP67 Hastings Notes.pdf -- with a specific section on 'Using the Autopilot' ?

Looking at it - it looks well written and states Read the instructions carefully if you are not used to old autopilots:

The author, Jens Kristensen, is a very professional FS aircraft designer.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, I did read the notes and was curious as to what freq to tune to in approach mode, vor, ndb etc.
I will use a local airport, East Midlands, set up an approach and experiment.
I must show my appreciation to the creator(s) for an excellent piece of work, love it.
Keeps you busy, landing an aircraft that would normally require three human inputs :)

Locked on to the ILS and landed, didn't realise the a/p of that era could do that.
Live and learn!
