how do I know if the .gau file is compatible with my fs?

You will find out when you first select the aircraft in FSX.

When I first select it, there come a error or warning where I have to choose between Run or Dont Run, and when I press run, another option shows up whether yes or no. Is that what your talking about? and what should I choose

Select Run then Yes.

If you then get a message about FS98 gauges then the gauge is incompatible. The only way to stop this message is to remove the incompatible gauges from your FSX\Gauges or Panel folder of the aircraft.

I don't think your problem is caused by incompatible gauges. Try the 777 gtirob01 recommended earlier in this topic.

Make sure you installed the gauges correctly. If you provide a link to the page the file is posted on someone can check it out for you.

I think your problem is a missing 'msvcr70.dll' file required for FSX to read older gauge (.gau) files.

The pm I sent explains it further, along with another fix (missing radio stack) for the panel.cfg file.
At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
