no sound in american airlines boeing 777 download

Postby Flyin Ace » Thu Mar 24, 2011 11:10 pm

I downloaded the FSX/FS2004 American Airlines Boeing 777-200 Altn file. Everything seems to work, but the cockpit opens cold and dark. The engines won't start when I use ctrl. E. There is also no sound, such as the clicking of the switches, etc. The plane will move, but no sound or gauges lit.

I don't have that particuar addon, but some things to check, as far as sound goes, is the sound file of the aircraft.  Many add-ons "alias" the sound to one of the default aircraft.  In the case of airliners, it's usually the 737-800.

As far as the cold dark cockpit, double check to see if the download is specifically meant for FSX with SP1 &2, or Acceleration.  Some add-ons that were specifically designed for FSX Acceleration will not start ( or have other problems) if you do not have acceleration installed. (At the very least, SP1 & SP2 should be installed anyway, as it improves the sim, in general.  They are both free).

Just something I would try (More out of curiosity) would be to rename the 777 "panel" folder, then, then drop in the one from the 737-800 and see if it works.

I assume you mean this file. http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=FSX%2FFS2004+American+Airlines+Boeing+777-200+Altn+&x=18&y=8

I downloaded it to check it out. The sound problem is easily fixed. The file is configured for both FS9 & FSX.

Hiya,

one thing to be aware of with win 7 is that your fsx is not installed in 'program files'.
If you've not changed the install path it wil be installed in the 'program files (86)' folder.

Now depending on whose done the .cfg files, if they have put the full path in then they may very well be wrong for win 7 but easily corrected to change the path
May the Mynd be with you.
So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs.

I believe that only applies to Win7 64-bit.

Thanks for the help. I copied the sound file of the 737 into the 777. I do have 737 sound, but still nothing shows on the gauges. I was checking the readme file which mentions replacing the sound files, panels and Aircraft cfg. file in the main aircraft file. This would supposedly replace them but I was afraid to take a chance and lose all my originals. If anyone wants to try, here's what it says (in the readme):
"Install FSX:
1.      Unzip the file to the 'FS Root\SimObjects\Airplane' directory.
2.      Move the files contained with 777-effects to 'FS Root\Effects'
3.      Move the alternate Aircraft.cfg, Panel & Sounds folders in the included
     '\FSX' folder

Ok. Thanks. I didn't realize you tried all that. I'll check around for another one.
