Well, after spending about a month and a half toying with the idea of "upgrading" to FS9 (http://205.252.250.26/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1293649748), I've spent the last week or so toying with FSX again, and with a few adjustments, it sure is nice to be back.
My biggest problem with FSX was the same as everyone - getting it to run the way you want to. What I wanted was to be able to fly with a realistic amount of traffic, generally VFR but also some IFR with single engine props and turboprops, and have it run smoothly with nice visuals. I just got done with my first flight with the new setup complete, and I think it's going to meet my needs quite nicely. I did the trick that allows FSX to use more than 2GB, aka the 3GB switch, and also followed NickN's instructions on setting up nVidia Inspector, and viola, as they say. I'm now running with 100% GA traffic, 50% airline traffic, most settings to a notch or a tad more below max (no, I am not another "max settings" guy
