Landing Stats Pointless? (mild rant)

Postby Mistro » Sun Aug 22, 2010 1:40 am

I'm still learning about this flight sim. What I learned tonight is that the landing count can be way off. I been looking at my medals and stuff in the pilot records area sometime with a sense of achievement. But then tonight I took off in a tail dragger from a bumpy runway and landed at my destination expecting to see 1 landing and there were 3. So because my wheels touched the runway a couple times, those counted as landings.  :-? The pilot record area has now lost it's credibility with me as far as knowing how many landings I have under my belt. Now I have no idea how many landings I actually did and I have to ignore that next achievement medal that says "xx Landings". Or take the cheat like an embellished resume. :-X
I can't do that though. Oh well.

Just wanted to get that off my chest. Join me for a beer?

Why rely on a machine? :-?

Use a notebook and write your own log..

Or maintain an electronic log using a database of some sort

I believe it is possible to change the numer of recorded landings (select an entry, click details)

I might be wrong though. My logbook hasn't worked for months  :-/
Call me Leen, it's way shorter :)

If your takeoffs are being counted okay, use them as a reference for landings.

Just wait until your logbook "disappears" and takes all yous stats along with it!  :-?

For whatever reason mine erased itself a few months back for no (related) reason!  Lost over 600 landings and 2000 hours!!! :'( :'( :'(

it does a good job of recording the wrong aircraft as well.
May the Mynd be with you.
So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs.

FSX Logbook is known for getting corrupted rather easily. Simply deleting logs can result in corruption, leading to a stop in future logs.
This app recovers most of a corrputed logbook.

There are also other logbook programs that have been written to make manual electronic logs around the net. ;)
