FS9 aircraft in FSX

Postby patchz » Sun Jul 18, 2010 3:20 am

Eugene Heyart's Otter NG works in FSX, but there are a few problems. The main one being, the switches for landing, taxi lights etc. are no longer there. The landing light can be turned off with contol + L as usual, but there is no way to turn off the taxi light. I looked at the aircraft.cfg and there is not a specific mention of the taxi light in the [Lights] section.

[lights]
light.0 = 3, -5.84, 29.25, 5.56, fx_navgre
light.1 = 3, -5.84, -29.25, 5.56, fx_navred
light.2 = 1, -25.77, 0, 10.51, fx_beacon
light.3 = 3, -27.68, 0, -1.12, fx_navwhi
light.4 = 2, -6.57, 29.25, 5.57, fx_strobe
light.5 = 1, -5.5, 0, -3.52, fx_beacon
light.6 = 4, 0.76, 0, 1.7, fx_vclight
light.7 = 4, -7.84, 0, 1.7, fx_vclight
light.8 = 4, -3.72, 0, 1.7, fx_vclight
light.9 = 4, 6.15, 0, 2.71, fx_vclight
light.10 = 2, -6.57, -29.25, 5.57, fx_strobe

I rarely fly at night, so is there a way to permanently disable the taxi light in the aircraft.cfg or panel.cfg?

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

It could be that the taxi/landing lights are attached directly to the model. This operation is performed by the creator of the plane during modelling, and as a consequence, the corresponding lights do not appear in the aircraft.cfg.

You should be able, nevertheless, to edit one of the virtual cockpit sections to include simple 2D switches that control the various lights. The only thing is that you'll have to find a plane with simple 2D reusable light switches, in order to indentify the corresponding gauge names :)

[color=#000000]Thanks Daube. I think you are correct in your assessment. As to the solution, I think it is above my current ability.
