Amusing Carrier bug and a possible one

Postby EVVFCX » Thu Jun 24, 2010 6:52 am

Hi All,

I'm new to FSX and it's carriers etc.

On one of my landings it went wrong and ended in a crash, in the after crash video, the carrier cruised away leaving the F18 floating in mid air, is this normal or just me?

Other thing is, I now cannot raise the undercarriage after leaving the deck, I'm having to raise the launch bar then retract gear, when I did my first half dozen or so takeoffs, just pressing G or my button on the joystick worked fine, now pressing G/Joystick button doesn't raise gear until I cancel the launch bar - is this normal?

Landing on a carrier used to be eaiser many years ago ;D

In another topic I've read somebody asked about nose wheel steering.
Nose wheel steering is not active unless the launch bar is raised, this prevents you turned once lined up on the cat.

regards to all

Steve

May the Mynd be with you.
So far my number of landings either passenger or pilot equal my number of takeoffs.

Yes, I belive both are normal.
Carrier landings are one of the hardest things to do.

Normally you cannot retract the gears if the launch bar is still extended. You have to retract it first.

Concerning your crash and the carrier going away, yes it's normal. Crashes in FS are not so realistic, unfortunately.

The undercarrieage bit?  a bit erratic, tried again last night and undercarriage retracted OK without touching the launch bar retract - odd
