Adding Airports and Scenery

Postby Jase35 » Wed Feb 17, 2010 4:56 pm

Hi guys;

Sorry for going over old ground,but have come back to FS,but have forgotten a few basics,so apologies.
I want to improve the default airports on FSX,and to no success.
Have looked on Grumpy Lair's site about adding scenery,but i must be doing something wrong,cos airports are no different.
I put the BGL file into the scenery folder within Scenery Add-on's and nothing different.
The only thing that is changed is when i load FSX it comes up that it is updating the scenery files database,but it looks no different when i go in the game.
Help needed..............Thanks everyone.

Do the same thing your doing just, afterwards start up FSX and: go into Settings, on the far right select Scenery Library, and click the unchecked ones to Enable them. Click OK. Should work now.
Hope this helps,

Installing scenery in FSX is basically the same as in FS2002/4. If you can be more specific perhaps someone can check it out for you. Give an example of a file you're having problems with plus the file description & the page it's posted on. (I can't check it out myself as I only have the FSX Demo.)

If you use Windows 7 please read this. http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=4426

Thank you for your help there,i managed to sort it out a little late last night...................but i go to settings,and look for scenery library and i cant see it.
The only way i can do it,is by going into the actual game,in the cockpit view,and bringing up the menu at the top of the screen,and doing it from there.
Anyway,think i am winning a little bit,thanks again for the help.

This is where the Scenery Library is on the FSX Settings menu.

once you enable the scenery in the library, make sure that you shut FSX down, then REstart it so that it can build the correct files in the SELECT AN AIRPORT menu. (just like you would in FS2002/4)

That step was peculiar to FS9. I don't think it's necessary in FSX.
