PC slow to respond

I have about 25 GB space used by my FSX. Can this program cause my PC to respond slow. It takes seconds before my arrow changes to the hand icon and there is a delay when I arrow up or down. Although this phenomenon happens often, it does not all the time. Any suggestions what this could be?
