I'm making a guess now...

In the Sound Folder for the particular Aircraft, isn't the Sound.cfg file configured to point to different sounds included in the Folder, as you Pan around?
If a particular sound is not included in the Folder, it may not Sound?

Paul...sounding off... 8-)...!

P.S...have a peek at all the plugs on all your Speakers, etc......un-plug, and plug them back in again...;)...poor contacts?...!

So you are speculating that a single wav file might be missing that is shared among various ac, and then it just causes the whole thing to go haywire?

The best designers generally include a special Sound Folder in their download to suit their particular Aircraft, which covers all their sounds for that Aircraft....
..otherwise they alias to the Sound Folder of a Default Aircraft, which may not include a suitable "sound" for the Aircraft... ::)...!

Paul...G-BPLF.... 8-)..!

I often move Sound Folders around to get the best sounds for my Aircraft... :-*...!

I'm just brainstorming here, but is there a master sound config file for fsx (I don't mean for a specific aircraft)?  I see all the sound entries in fsx.cfg, but I just rebuilt the fsx config anyway

Sound is a big mystery to me. I've had a hunt round & found various reported problems with FSX sound. Does this make sense? http://www.computer-aid.com.au/blog/2009/07/24/sound-problems-with-vista-64-and-intel-dp45sg/

Wow!  That very well could be just the thing to try out.  Thanks.  I don't have time to try it just this moment, but I will go through it and post what happens a bit later

Ok, so I had a chance to follow this guide as applicable, disabling SDIF and such.
