IM NEVER GOING TO INSTALL ANOTHER AI TRAFFIC MOD

Postby keith-uk » Fri Nov 27, 2009 1:34 pm

A few weeks ago i installed GA traffic as i wanted to add something new to FSX.
It messed my FSX installation up, giving me up to six of the same AI aircraft flying inside each other. Lots of the same flight plans in other words. I spent the following week trying to fix this before uninstalling FSX.

A few days ago i reinstalled FSX, set everything up again and did all the o&o defrag runs again (big job as you all know).

Like an ididot, i then downloaded and installed world of AI and installed many world of AI packages.

I then started a flight at Heathrow in London and found that the airport was full of british airways aircraft and no other, even though i installed other UK airline packages. I then noticed that the AI aircraft all looked like crap, with nowhere near as much detail, blacked out windows with no crew and so on.
I then found that many other airports had NO traffic at all. So i started to remove this mess of a mod, but ended up having no airports left in FSX to choose from.

So i have now uninstalled FSX again. I don't have the energy to set it all up again, so i'm leaving it for a while.

I think world of AI should have made it clear that this mod will fill your airports up with aircraft of the same airline so it will look stupid and thats if your real lucky, as many other airports will have no traffic at all.

Never again will i install any kind of traffic mod and i suggest that anyone thinking of adding a traffic mod thinks again. Just leave FSX alone, even though you might be board of it, at least it works.

Sorry for the rant, but i'm really p!$$

Would you mind telling me what that one file is, because default traffic does not affect my frame rate that much and I would like to see some more GA traffic.

I installed around 30 airlines of which quite a few were UK airlines, but Stansted and Glasgow airports were empty. I've been to both of these airports and i've never seen them empty and i don't think they ever will be.

Heathrow was full of British airways aircraft only and no other airline, even though i installed quite a few other UK airlines. If the mod just used a few from each airline it would have looked ok.

Also, the idea of going back to FS9 AI traffic models seems odd to me, i thought the idea in games is to always move forward. I built a new computer for FSX and it has no problem with the FSX AI traffic.

I agree i should have done more reading, but i don't think one should have to do any kind of in depth search to find out that the traffic mod has such serious drawbacks as outdated aircraft models/graphics, airports that have aircraft that are FULL of the same airline which looks SOOOO stupid and big well known airports that are empty.

And i had to uninstall FSX as while trying to remove the mod, i removed the add-on scenery it created, as that was not there before, but then i had 0 airports anywhere in the world on FSX.

Youll find the default here
\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\World\Scenery called TrafficAircraft.bgl. I edited mine and removed the Airlines and only kept the GA traffic, then addeed WOAI.  Woai also has a world map where you can click on an aiport and it will show you what traffic flies their. Make a note that not all the airports have the correct or any parking at all. if ther is no parking then the AI wont spawn and will disapear after they land. Take a note of wheir WOAI intsallt the flight plans the all you have to do is delete them to remve the trafffic. I have mine in a different folder. ANd yes they are simple and FS9 format but thats to keep them simple and less of a FPS burden, be nice when thya start making FSX native traffic.
