A/C call signs

Postby stargazr1952 » Wed May 20, 2009 12:19 pm

Is there a way to change or add call signs to A/C?

yes.

go to your FSX / SIM OBJECTS / AIRPLANES folder.  pick you plane of choice and then open the AIRCRAFT.CFG using NOTEPAD.

look in the [fltsim.x] area that looks like the following for the area that is BOLD::::

[fltsim.1]
title=Boeing 747-400 Paint2
sim=Boeing747-400
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=2
kb_checklists=Boeing747-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing747-400_ref
atc_id=N747I
atc_airline=World Travel
atc_flight_number=1123

atc_heavy=1
ui_manufacturer="Boeing"
ui_type="747-400"
ui_variation="World Travel Airlines"
ui_typerole="Commercial Airliner"
ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation"
description="More than 30 years ago, the 747 made its first trip from New York to London.  Since then, it's become the standard by which other large passenger jets are judged. Its size, range, speed and capacity were then, and are now, the best in its class."

this is from the Default 747. Just change the ATC_AIRLINE= to whatever you want, and if you want the Flight # to whatever you want.  SAVE your changes, and then restart FSX and happy flying.

I down loaded "Korean Air" for the 747 and in th aircraft file it  is listed as was discribed but when I go to fly Korean Air does not show up in the defalt box or in the list of airlines. The flight number is there.

I do not see "Korean Air" listed as a valid callsign in either the FS9 or
FSX voicepacks. Thus, you will not hear it referred to by ATC.

Paul,

Korean Air is in the default voicepacks for both FS9 and FSX.

Stargazr...
....but when I go to fly Korean Air does not show up in the defalt box or in the list of airlines....

I downloaded the FSX Korean Air texture pack from here-http://www.simviation.com/simviation/?ID=60&page=24&mark=3279. Installed both the cargo and passenger liveries and the callsign/flight number works in both.

Not sure what you mean by 'defalt box', but if the liveries are not showing in the 'select aircraft' window make sure you numbered the [fltsim.X] header(s) properly.

Korean Air will not show in the 'Aircraft Details'>ATC Information>Airline Callsign list until you have an aircraft/livery properly installed and using that call sign, or add Korean Air to the 'airlines.cfg' file (located in the FSX root folder).

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Thanks for the help. It took me rereading the posts several times for it to sink in. I added Korean Air too the Aircraft.cfg in the root dir. and now it reconizes the call sign
