Help! How to add Mike Stone's Stingray into FSX

Postby X_Man » Sun May 17, 2009 10:07 am

Guys - has anyone successfully added this aircraft to FSX? I cannot seem to get the cockpit to load.

Thanks

Hi. None of Mike Stone's aircraft has a VC. The Stingray has a basic 2D panel which should work in FSX. (Press F10 for the 2D panel)
Does this answer your question?

The Sound.cfg is aliased to the FS9 default B737_400. It should work if you re-alias it to the FSX default B737_800.

Ahh! Thanks Hagar - I only fly with VC so I guess I will be uninstalling it. Are there any other experimental SST with VC you can recommend?

Hagar - I found this:

Boeing 2707-200 SST v2

but in the read me it says: To get wingviews you need to have a real panel in, not just an alias

What in the Wide World of Sports does that mean?  :-?

Gotcha! OK now for the super newbie question! How hard is it to take a VC from another aircraft and use it for another?

That's only possible with true FSX models like the FSX default aircraft. The ones you're trying were created for FS9.

I found that SST & downloaded it to check it out. I does have a VC & comes with a "real" panel. Try following the instructions for the wing views but they might not display in FSX. You will probably need some of the default FS9 gauges for it to work properly.

You're welcome.

The wing view entries are already added to Panel.cfg. I should have checked.

Same tweak as the Stingray for the sound to work.

PS. Just tried it. I wouldn't bother.

If I only knew then what I know now, I would have stuck with FS9 instead upgrading to FSX just for the addon aircraft. However, FSX does look better - even without DX10.
