idk if anyone else had this issue but with vista i couldnt edit the cfg but now i can.  just copy , edit,  remove the old and paste the new in.  just installed my newest repaint!!!

I have a folder named "FSXrevisions"" in the 'my computer' side of things that I use for exactly that sorta stuff.....

For one, I had some freeware aircraft that had a black third of the bottom of the screen.

The first time I really effed it, I had to do a total uninstall!

System restore wouldn't even help me out of the mess I'd created.
