If you are indeed in the pipe and are not decending over the rated rate for the alarm then there is something wrong. As Brett said sometimes 3rd party devs (freeware usually) do not design correctly

[quote]If you constantly hear the "Don't Sink" alert, that is an indication that you are too slow and very close to stalling the a/c.

The solution is to add a touch of power to reduce the sink rate, not disable the alarm!

This must have been the problem for me.

Thanks all for your help. Problem solved! Brett and Nick you are right and Dave gave me the clue. The panel in use had no GWPS but the wave file was in the sound folder. As a quick fix the don't sink was removed the a/c flew and landed perfectly.I will add the GWSP to the panel and replace the wave file and see how it goes. :)

alb469,

Did you check the aircraft.cfg file for the [GPWS] section? If present it might be better to edit or comment out the section rather than delete the sound files. The GPWS would still be available on those aircraft that are configured properly.

You can look here for the properties used in the section.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I had trouble with the GPWS too... when I got the CH53 from Nemeth Designs, it nagged and nagged about the not sinking... and every now and then it would ask for FLAPS too  ::) ;D

I was told to edit the .cfg file and that solved the problem

I would be flying it now without any problems... if my pc would boot  :P

Cheers

I asked about the GPWS a few months back and was graciously directed to the GPWS toggle in the settings section......so now when I tire of the "Don't sink" and "Sinkrate", not to mention the "Too low, terrain" warnings, I have a button assigned to turn their irritating selves off! 8-)

Just simply remove from the sound folder. Even some real pilots, I think were F-14 pilots, got so annoyed with their over active 'don't sink' that they wouldn't fly until it got wiped off.

LOL!

These are not real pilots Bill... they have no concept of "Bitchin Betty" who will sit there and scream at you in a real plane the same as FSX if you are not 5-by-5 and in the 'pipe'

DAHHHHHHH That's why it  repeats itself. It wants you to do something! 8-) :-?
