Well, you can either set the traffic to 0% by going to settings, customize, traffic. Or if you will never want them you could delete the soundai folder.

If you go with WOAI it will disable your default automatically. Not sure about other addons, I use WOAI exclusively and am very happy with it.

WOAI only 'disables' default traffic if the traffic BGL files are not
converted to FSX format, which is something that SHOULD be done.
If not, you will also disable boat traffic and any other FSX compatible
traffic that you might add on.

As to disabling the default FSX traffic, the simplest method is to just
RENAME the default traffic BGL locarted in the Scenery\World\scenery
folder.
I believe the default file is named "trafficAircraft.bgl" but it's been
so long since I changed mine I can't be sure.

In any case, simply rename that default traffic file and when you
add WOIA traffic BGL files be sure to run them through one of the
available freeware FS9 to FSX traffic conversion utilities.

I've tried renaming and deleting trafficAircraft.bgl in ...\Scenery\World\Scenery and FSX just rebuilds it when it doesn't see it.  I have NO IDEA how to disable default AI and it's just straight up weird when I hear "American 1103..." and "Orbit 1252..." one after another.

FSX 're-building' the Traffic BGL??  I certainly have never experienced this
sort of thing.

Here's an alternative....download real world liveries for the default
FSX aircraft.

Go into the aircraft.cfg file and reassign the default textures to the
real life texture files. Also CHANGE the ATC ID statements to reflect
the real life textures.
DO NOT change the "Title=" entry, however, since that is what FSX
uses to match the traffic BGL callout to an aircraft.

Here is an example, my default A321 aircraft.cfg entries for the first
two default paints...I deleted the Description= lines to save space here:

Code: Select all
[fltsim.0]
title=Airbus A321 Paint2
sim=Airbus_A321
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=BA
kb_checklists=AirbusA321_check
kb_reference=AirbusA321_ref
atc_id=G-FOCN
atc_airline="SPEED BIRD"
atc_flight_number=202
ui_manufacturer="Airbus"
ui_type="A321"
ui_variation=British Airways
//texture=2
//kb_checklists=AirbusA321_check
//kb_reference=AirbusA321_ref
//atc_id=F-MSAB
//atc_airline=World Travel
//atc_flight_number=
//ui_manufacturer="Airbus"
//ui_type="A321"
//ui_variation="World Travel Airlines"
ui_typerole="Commercial Airliner"
ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation"

[fltsim.1]
title=Airbus A321 Paint4
sim=Airbus_A321
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=SAS
kb_checklists=AirbusA321_check
kb_reference=AirbusA321_ref
atc_id=SE-REG
atc_airline="SCANDINAVIAN"
atc_flight_number=204
ui_manufacturer="Airbus"
ui_type="A321"
ui_variation="Scandinavian Airlines"
//texture=4
//kb_checklists=AirbusA321_check
//kb_reference=AirbusA321_ref
//atc_id=I-HKSN
//atc_airline=Orbit
//atc_flight_number=
//ui_manufacturer="Airbus"
//ui_type="A321"
//ui_variation="Orbit Airlines"
ui_typerole="Commercial Airliner"
ui_createdby="Microsoft Corporation"

This will keep default AI traffic intact but change the callsigns used as
well as the textures.

Im having a dis-connect here.  Doesn't disabling the default traffic knock down FSXs gate calculation?  And addon like WOAI uses another method?

"gate calculation"??

I have no idea what you are reffering to here.
