Tweak question

Postby alb469 » Tue Jan 13, 2009 7:51 pm

I was reading in faq a tweak that would increase fps, was to set in the fsx cfg  the shader cache primed to 0. I have done that several time but it keeps going back to its original setting. Am I doing something wrong?

You could set the target frame rate in the settings to unlimited.  Then it'll run the max your OS is capable of.

At least this works for me.......

DO NOT MESS WITH THOSE TWEAKS

They are old and most do not work anymore

Everything you need to know about FSX and tuning it with the CORRECT TWEAKS is located in this one post

http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_p ... ?TID=29041

There is a section on the FSX.cfg file..  the edits are meant to be used with the sliders and explanations of how to tune them for a system

and dont screw with anything else in the config

Thanks Nick. That was a great help thankfully that was the only thing I tried to change. However since my system crashed a few months ago and I reinstalled the deluxe version from the discs and added SP1, that's as far as I went but there are a couple of nagging problems. One is the blue task bar that is at the top of the screen all the time I had this once before a long time ago and can't remember the fix. The other problem is the touchdown effect were you had the smoke billows when the wheels touch down is gone, all I get are little puffs of smoke when rolling down the runway which is not very realistic. Can anyone give me answers to these problems. Thanks

Thanks Pierre. But that bar is not the one I was referring to this is a solid blue bar that is above the normal task bar, on its top left it says Microsoft Flight Simulator X and the top right the usual min max close. I had this happen a long time ago but cant remember the fix

Thanks Anxyous that did the trick. Now if I can just figure out why I lost my normal touchdown effects and just get those little puffs of smoke behind the wheels after landing and rolling on the runway. all my problemss would be gone after my reinstall.
