Collective

FSX including FSX Steam version.

Collective

Postby Lighthorse » Fri Jan 09, 2009 2:01 pm

I'm sure the answer is out there but I haven't found it.
I am looking for the Collective assignment.
I have my throttle set for the planes but I need to set
the Collective to my collective handle.
Using FSX I have looked through all settings, must be
missing it somewhere.

For helicopters, your joystick throttle is the collective control. No need for a new assignment.

If you have assigned an axis to the 'Propeller axis' that will control the 'throttle' located on the heli's collective control.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I'll try that.
I want throttle on the throttle control not the stick.
I'm trying to set up so that planes have standard throttle
control and Helli's have collective control.
Thanks

I'll rephrase.....

The control axis you assigned for throttle in an airplane is the control axis for the collective in a heli. The sim makes the switch automatically, no need for you to make any new assignment.

The twist grip on the collective is labeled 'throttle' and is used to set the governed turbine/rotor rpm. It will be controlled by the axis you have assigned to 'propeller axis' if you have made that assignment.

There are no seperate control assignments for helicopters, so if you want the collective controlled by something other than your airplane throttle axis assignment, you would have to make reassignments as needed.

I see. That is how it has been I have to go in and revers the
throttle when I fly the Helicopters so that I pull up for collective.
I just wanted to leave the throttle on the throttle controls and
the collective on the stick at my left.
I Like FSX so far the best I also have X-Plane and that is the one
thing that it does is let you set a separate helicopter Stick.
I'll live with it though.

Thanks for your help
