Help please!!! with Flight design ctsw folder

Postby josetimbal123 » Wed Dec 31, 2008 3:41 am

Hi, everyone. I have a big problem . I download a airplane file from this web page:

http://www.premaircraft.com/ctsw_FSX/index.html .

I try to follow the instruction that they give to extract the Folder to the C: FSX folder, But I don't have on FSX a folder with that name. The only way that I can Fly the airplane is The traditional way: "The Flight design ctsw folder" on the" Airplane folder" on the simulator. I can fly the plane with no problem But the problem is that

Hi. Not quite sure what your problem is. If you can select & fly the aircraft in FSX you obviously installed it to the correct location. The default location for the FSX root directory is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

If I was doing this I would ignore the instructions & install it in the usual way. Extract the zipfile to a Temp folder anywhere on your HDD. Open the extracted folder & you should see 3 folders named Effects, gauges & SimObjects. Open the Effects & gauges folders & paste the contents into their corresponding folders in the FSX root directory.

The SimObjects folder contains a subfolder named Airplanes which contains 2 further subfolders named Flight_Design_CTSW_C-IJCT & fsfsconv. To install the aircraft paste both subfolders into the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\airplanes directory. You must paste the folder named fsfsconv in there for the sound to work.

I could not agree more with Hagar regarding installation of scenery and/or aircraft packages. I never "trust" auto-installers or instructions which tell you to unzip a file directly to some specified location.

Therefore I always unzip to a temp folder first, read through any documentation and then manually move items where they should go.

I have been bitten once too often by an improperly contructed self-installer or zip file.

I tend to trust well-known professional company's installers. I never trust "amatuer's" efforts however...

I use a slightly different technique though. I have two folders set up specifically for testing the actual installer and/or instructions:

C:\FS9_Dummy
C:\FSX_Dummy

This allows me to install or unzip to the relevant folder, and thereby see exactaly what gets put where...

Keep in mind that with commercial models, there are sometimes certain files that need to be placed in specific system locations (license files, .dll files, etc) that can only be done by running the installer program...

The SimObjects folder contains a subfolder named Airplanes which contains 2 further subfolders named Flight_Design_CTSW_C-IJCT & fsfsconv. Hagar: So I just copy the Fsfsconv folder in the  Flight design folder or in the sound folder in Flight Design folder?
