As long as you have not done any cache edits and using the same settings I can see a burst of that speed with certain drives such as 3GB/s Samsung 32MB cache 500GB units but sustained at that speed on 2 drives is not possible... 4 yes, 2 no

I would have to question the Atto application in the Vista OS

I thought it was too good to be true Nick.

Thats why I use XP x64

I dont do Vista right now becasue of limited support for some of my hardware and it is known for being quarky with perf form something as simple as a driver change

Nick, any idea why Windows update says it has an updated 3ware driver?

no clue and I would suggest you always ignore WU driver updates

Only deal with the critical updates and the optional ones for their software like DirectX and Net framework

Nick, I am running 2x2gb sticks of Mushkin-XP PC-6400 555,18

I am staring at 4x1gb sticks of CorsairXMS PC-6400 555,18 that I replaced them with. I have a real hankering to plug 2 of the 1gb sticks into my empty slots.

I know the normal recommendations are same type Ram e.t.c.  any issue with me doing this?  End result will be 6gb Ram on Vista-64

The end result of 4 sticks vs 2 sticks will be higher memory timing and above 4GB is really of no use to FSX

If you need 6GB for audio/video editing or graphics production/CAD then do it... if not it will not change anything in FSX and it will force a higher timing on the memory to run more sticks, meaning, less performance

Nick, I have nothing on the FSX except FSX.  Other thing I notice is that there is a $recycle bin on there.

Something weird with Vista no doubt.
