bland aircraft

Hi all... forum noobie here.

I've downloaded several aircraft and notice that while everything works within the sim, the exterior aircraft textures are all a bland, slate gray. What gives?

The only thing that jumps out at me is that the aircraft that DO work have .dds files in the texture subdir(s) and the non-working aircraft have .bmp files.

Sounds a bit like using non DX10 aircraft in DX10.or something similar

I don't have FS.X but there have been a few guys having a problem like this

I do have DX10 enabled.. I'll try it w/o.  Thx for the suggestion!

Thank goodness it's a texture issue - I thought you'd raided my hard drive for some of my "creations" ...

LOL...  no... not this time.

Garry's suggestion nailed it... turned off DX10 and all is happy.
